Dr. B.J. Cash is an Alabama native growing up in Hueytown, AL, but has strong family times with Lamar County. His father Gilbert was born and raised in Millport. Dr. Cash obtained his undergraduate and veterinary training at Mississippi State University and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. He has worked in multiple areas of veterinary medicine throughout his career in both private practice and emergency / specialty veterinary practice. He was also the Chief Medical Officer with The Greater Birmingham Humane Society, which during his tenure began a partnership with Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine to train 4th year Veterinary Medical Students in soft tissue surgery and shelter medicine.
Dr. Cash purchased Animal Care Center of Vernon in January 2017. Dr. Cash lives in Vernon with his wife of 28 years, Amy. They have two adult children. Their daughter Becca lives in Greensboro, NC and is in her 2nd year of a of a PhD program in Clinical Counselling. Their son Zac, lives in Toney Alabama and is a full time student at University of Alabama-Huntsville and a part-time youth pastor at Lacey Springs United Methodist Church.
